Sucheowon Forest Center

Sucheowon National Forest Education Centre sits at 850m on Cheongtaesan. Run by the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, it was the country's first forest education centre — and it is in Dunnae, the same township as the pension.

Follow the Neulsol trail up through pines that reach for the sky and you arrive at the Cheongtaesan healing forest and its forest therapy centre. Acorns and squirrels appear among the larches and oaks, and if you walk on looking for dogwood and birch you can dip your feet in the stream.

Best of all is the barrier-free deck path, built for visitors with limited mobility, so prams and wheelchairs pass easily and walking with grandparents or small children is effortless. With children, the forest sensory playground is worth a stop.
