Some 1,700 fir trees line the kilometre of path between Woljeongsa's main gate and Geumgang Bridge. Tall, thick trunks run along both sides, and the sound around you softens as you walk. It is the temple's best-loved sight, in every season.

The path is flat and easy for anyone. Going early in the morning means fewer people and an even better walk.

At the end of the path stands Woljeongsa, founded in 643 by the monk Jajang. It sits on Odaesan, a mountain held sacred in its entirety, and holds treasures including a nine-storey octagonal stone pagoda designated a National Treasure. You can simply walk the forest and turn back, or carry on and look around the temple.
